Comparison
Amman or Irbid for Arabic Study?
The structural trade-off: choice and flexibility versus immersion and cost. Neither is better in the abstract — they suit different objectives.
In short
Amman concentrates most Arabic institutes, the greatest format flexibility and the largest international community — with more English around you, higher costs and longer commutes. Irbid is student-dominated, markedly cheaper and harder to avoid using Arabic in daily life. If maximum immersion per unit of time is your goal, Irbid has the structural advantage. If flexibility, choice of format or a large expatriate community matters more, Amman does.

Criteria used on this page
No institution is described here as universally "the best". Each list states the criteria behind it, and the right choice depends on the student's objective. Criteria applied:
- Your objective — Functioning in spoken Arabic favours Irbid; maximum format choice favours Amman.
- Length of stay — Short intensives gain more from immersion; long stays benefit from Amman's range.
- Budget — The cost difference between the two cities is material, not marginal.
- Accompanying family — Amman offers more international schooling and services.
- Non-Arabic study — If you are also studying a degree, the institution's location decides this for you.
