Study in Jordan
How to Apply to Study in Jordan
A step-by-step route from choosing a programme to arriving.
In short
Decide the field and the level first, then find programmes that match, then check each programme's accreditation status. Applying to an institution because of its name, and only then discovering the programme is not the one you needed, is the most common avoidable error.
Step 1 — Choose the programme, not the country
Decide the field and the level first, then find programmes that match, then check each programme's accreditation status. Applying to an institution because of its name, and only then discovering the programme is not the one you needed, is the most common avoidable error.
Step 2 — Confirm the institution is officially recognised
Check the institution against the 高等教育省's published lists. For regulated professions, check the programme-level status with the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission.
Step 3 — Have your prior qualification assessed
Foreign qualifications are assessed for recognition and equivalency by the Recognition & Certificates Equivalency Directorate. This is a state process and separate from admission. Start it early: it can be the slowest part of the route.
Step 4 — Apply directly to the institution
International applicants apply through the institution's own international admission route, not through the national Unified Admission system. The Study in Jordan portal is the national information gateway and the place to start the search.
Step 5 — Accept, then handle entry
After the admission decision, arrange the entry documentation you need for travel, and confirm with the institution what it provides — some issue supporting letters, some do not.
Step 6 — Enrol and obtain residency
Residency for students is normally arranged after enrolment, with institutional support, rather than before travel. Confirm the exact route with the institution and the Ministry of Interior, and keep your documents current.
A note on agents
Some applicants use recruitment agents. If you do, ask who pays them and whether they represent specific institutions only. An agent paid by an institution has an interest in which institution you choose. This portal is not an agent and receives no payment from any institution.
Verify with the institution and the authority
Requirements in this area are set by institutions and Jordanian authorities, and they change. Use this page to know what to ask, then confirm the current position with the institution's international office and the relevant ministry before acting.
Sources & verification
Priority order: official Jordanian government authorities → official institution websites → accreditation organisations → official ranking organisations → Visit Jordan → other reliable sources. Claims that could not be verified from these are marked as unverified rather than presented as fact.
