Admission Requirements in Jordan
What institutions ask for — and the two different things applicants confuse.
In short
Institutional admission requirements are set by the university or college: prior qualification, minimum grades, language evidence, programme-specific conditions, sometimes entrance tests or interviews. State recognition is whether your foreign qualification is recognised for the purpose you intend. You can satisfy one and fail the other.
Two separate things
Institutional admission requirements are set by the university or college: prior qualification, minimum grades, language evidence, programme-specific conditions, sometimes entrance tests or interviews. State recognition is whether your foreign qualification is recognised for the purpose you intend. You can satisfy one and fail the other.
Typical admission requirements
A recognised prior qualification (secondary certificate for undergraduate, bachelor's for master's, master's for doctorate); certified transcripts; language-proficiency evidence where required; and programme-specific conditions such as prerequisite coursework, portfolio, entrance examination or interview.
Undergraduate applicants with foreign school qualifications
Applicants presenting IGCSE, A-Level, IB, American diploma or another foreign secondary qualification are assessed against the institution's own rules, and their qualification is separately assessed for equivalency. Grade and subject requirements matter, and they differ from the Tawjihi route.
Postgraduate applicants
Master's entry normally requires a recognised bachelor's degree; doctoral entry normally requires a recognised master's degree plus a supervisor and a research plan. Crossing fields is sometimes possible with bridging or prerequisite coursework — confirm this before applying, not after.
Deadlines
Application windows are set by each institution and admission cycle. This portal describes the pattern rather than publishing a date that may already have passed. Confirm the current window with the admissions office.
Verify with the institution and the authority
Requirements in this area are set by institutions and Jordanian authorities, and they change. Use this page to know what to ask, then confirm the current position with the institution's international office and the relevant ministry before acting.
Sources & verification
Priority order: official Jordanian government authorities → official institution websites → accreditation organisations → official ranking organisations → Visit Jordan → other reliable sources. Claims that could not be verified from these are marked as unverified rather than presented as fact.
