Special Education & Learning Support in Jordan

How learning support works in Jordanian schools, what to ask before applying, and why the scope of provision — not its existence — is the question that matters.

In short

Most international and private schools in Jordan state that learning-support provision exists. That statement is not the useful one. What determines whether a specific child can be accommodated is the scope of that provision: which needs the school can serve, the qualifications and caseload of the staff, whether support is delivered in class or in withdrawal sessions, whether additional fees apply, and whether the school will accept a child with a given profile at all. Ask those questions in writing, and ask for the name and role of the person responsible.

Criteria used on this page

No institution is described here as universally "the best". Each list states the criteria behind it, and the right choice depends on the student's objective. Criteria applied:

  • Scope of need served — Which specific learning needs the school can actually accommodate, and which it refers elsewhere.
  • Staffing — Qualifications, whether staff are full-time, and the caseload per specialist.
  • Model of support — In-class support, withdrawal sessions, individual education plans, or a combination.
  • Assessment and admission — Whether an assessment is required, and whether a place depends on its outcome.
  • Fees — Whether learning support carries additional fees, and how they are calculated.
  • Continuity — Whether provision continues across all grade levels, including examination years.

What this portal publishes

This page explains how to evaluate provision. The portal lists schools that state a learning-support function only where that could be confirmed from the school's own published information, and it does not grade the quality of any school's provision, because that cannot be assessed from a website.

Sources & verification

Priority order: official Jordanian government authorities → official institution websites → accreditation organisations → official ranking organisations → Visit Jordan → other reliable sources. Claims that could not be verified from these are marked as unverified rather than presented as fact.
