Tuition & Costs in Jordan

What determines tuition — and how to build a defensible estimate.

Last checked September 2026

In short

Tuition in Jordan varies by institution category, programme, degree level, student nationality and admission year, and it changes annually. Publishing a number that is wrong by a factor of two would be worse than publishing none, so this portal states what determines the cost and where to get the authoritative figure: the institution's own current fee schedule.

Why this page has no figure

Tuition in Jordan varies by institution category, programme, degree level, student nationality and admission year, and it changes annually. Publishing a number that is wrong by a factor of two would be worse than publishing none, so this portal states what determines the cost and where to get the authoritative figure: the institution's own current fee schedule.

What determines the figure

Public or private institution; the specific programme (medicine, dentistry and engineering carry different rates from humanities); undergraduate or postgraduate; whether you are charged as a Jordanian student, a non-Jordanian student or a student from a country with a bilateral arrangement; and the credit hours you actually register for.

What people forget to budget

Registration and capital levies; laboratory, clinical or materials charges in some programmes; books and equipment; accommodation and deposits; transport; health insurance; residency and document costs; and the cost of a return trip home. The extras can rival the tuition line in some programmes.

Building the estimate

Ask the institution for the current fee schedule in writing, per credit hour and per year. Multiply by the credits you will register. Add the living costs from the relevant city guide. Then add a contingency — annual increases are common and are usually stated in the institution's own regulations.

Scholarships

Funding changes the arithmetic. See the scholarship page for what could be verified, and note that most institutional support is partial rather than full.

Verify with the institution and the authority

Requirements in this area are set by institutions and Jordanian authorities, and they change. Use this page to know what to ask, then confirm the current position with the institution's international office and the relevant ministry before acting.

Sources & verification

Priority order: official Jordanian government authorities → official institution websites → accreditation organisations → official ranking organisations → Visit Jordan → other reliable sources. Claims that could not be verified from these are marked as unverified rather than presented as fact.
