Student Housing & Neighbourhoods in Jordan

Where students actually live, city by city.

Last checked September 2026

In short

Student accommodation concentrates around Al-Jubeiha and west Amman near the University of Jordan, and along the corridors serving the universities further out. Rent is highest here, and commute time is the decisive variable because of traffic.

Amman

Student accommodation concentrates around Al-Jubeiha and west Amman near the University of Jordan, and along the corridors serving the universities further out. Rent is highest here, and commute time is the decisive variable because of traffic.

Irbid

Deep private rental market oriented to students, university housing at the main institutions, and a compact central area that is walkable. The JUST campus at Ar-Ramtha is further out and normally reached by university transport or shared taxi.

Zarqa, Salt, Karak, Mafraq, Ma'an and Tafila

Smaller markets with lower rents and less choice. University housing matters more in these cities, and private rental is usually arranged locally rather than through online listings.

Madaba, Jerash and Ajloun

Smaller student populations, and practical commuting relationships with Amman and Irbid respectively. Some students live in the smaller city and study in the larger one.

Practical note

This portal does not publish rent figures, because rental prices move quickly and vary by unit quality within the same street. Treat any specific number you see online as a starting point for a conversation, not as a fact.

Verify with the institution and the authority

Requirements in this area are set by institutions and Jordanian authorities, and they change. Use this page to know what to ask, then confirm the current position with the institution's international office and the relevant ministry before acting.

Sources & verification

Priority order: official Jordanian government authorities → official institution websites → accreditation organisations → official ranking organisations → Visit Jordan → other reliable sources. Claims that could not be verified from these are marked as unverified rather than presented as fact.
